Trinity after Andrei Rublev

Russia was converted to Christianity in the 10th century and eventually the Byzantine tradition was very much its own. This stunning Trinity Icon, was painted by Andrei Rublev the most famous of Russian icon painters. Within Christian iconography the three angels who appeared to Abraham in the Old Testament story have become representative of the three persons of the Trinity.
