Crucifix after Francesco di Vannuccio (1356–89)

Virtually every duomo in Italy had a crucifix, sometimes sculptured, but the most popular form was the painted cross. Little is known about the Sinese artist Vannuccio, but this large painted cross demonstrates his ability and artistic insight. This cross is in South Carolina and is part of the Bob Jones University Museum collection.
