He Spake and It Was Done

A Hebrew commentary traditionally has the main text written in the center of the page, surrounded by other scripture which sheds light on the passage and commentaries by other great thinkers, such as Rashi. This Jewish concept perceives the various writers in conversation with each other. The central passage of this print is the Genesis story, “In the Beginning God Created...”

This text is surrounded with the words of David addressing creation, “by the word of the Lord were the heavens made... He commanded and it stood fast, He spake and it was done.” (Psalms 33). The ancients considered David and Moses in conversation.
